ometime during the fall of 1996
I was browsing the web, looking for a good Slayer site. The two
sites I knew then, the Official Slayer home page and "the
Unofficial Slayer pages" in the Netherlands, were both once
good sites but quite outdated. I couldn't find a site that
satisfied my needs, so I thought "Well then, why not make a
new site?". I sat down and started working on The Abyss
in early September. About one month later, I uploaded the site to
my new GeoCities
account and the site went public. During the following month,
several other new Slayer sites occurred on the web, and a healthy
competition drove me to improve the site to try to make
it the best one out there. Now it's up to you to tell me if I've
succeeded in accomplishing that. :)
ince then, the Abyss has grown
in size and popularity, and even moved to its own domain. As of
now (October '97), this site has been visited about 44 000
times since the start, and the traffic is steadily increasing.
The site has received a few awards, and
has even been mentioned in a
major metal magazine!
So, you ask, what makes this site so complete? Let me list some of the things you can find here...
You can also check out the list of coming features to see what I plan to implement in the future. If you feel something is missing - please mail me and suggest what you want to see on this site!

f you have some Slayer
information that can't be found here (a bootleg,
limited edition album, member trivia etc), please tell me about it! I will happily put the
info here ASAP and of course, credit
you for giving me the information. If you want to know
exactly what I am looking for, check out the Wanted! page.
f you're curious about the
fellow who designed this site, check out the "Who
is Janek, anyway?" page. You're always welcome to mail
me about the site, Slayer or music in general. :) Just write off
to janek@slaytanic.com!
Want to know more about the soft- and hardware I used to create the site? The "Tools used" page should satisfy your needs.
Curious about what pages others look at and what kinds of people visit this site? Check out the statistics page, updated every night!
